It’s not that easy…
Most often it is observed that while taking
admission in Undergraduate courses in Mass Communication or Media, students say
that they do not have interest in studies and that is why they want to pursue
course in media but let me tell you, media can only be good for those who have
hunger for information and information comes not just from studying but
observation as well. So, in order to grow well in media, you need to be more
focused, more attentive, more studious and more of an observer.
I would say that the study of journalism is
hardest of all. Even if you are a master of a particular subject of reporting,
you are expected to be the jack of everything. You should know everything that
is happening around, right from a road accident to an international hijack,
from what’s happening in Cinema to the ups and downs share market. Everything
is important. You are not considered a good journalist if you are not capable
of answering any question being tossed at you. A journalist needs to know
everything.
It is not tough to become one that diligent
but it is difficult to stay focused. You might do everything in the starting of
your media course but it has been observed that majority of students starts
taking things casually till the end and at the end they find that they
themselves had let go everything from their hands.
Remember, we are able to learn things only
when we practice them many times or if we can link them to any other event
already stored in our memory. It’s a game of you and yourself. A prominent
journalist may give you lecture in your classroom but the thing that ultimately
matters is what you have grabbed from his lecture.
Here are some major dos that you should
follow while studying journalism:

Make it interesting.
2.
Make habits but the good ones.
3.
Engage yourself completely to it.
4.
Read anything you come across.
5.
Learn everything you come across.
6.
Never let your hunger for
information, die.
